Memories of 6th Class

This year in 6th class we certainly have done a lot. If it’s winning awards or being on sports teams we’ve done it.

We start off with the “fit and fun Friday”. We had two sessions of P.E. and we made healthy smoothies and it was great.

In past years Ms Casey’s class have participated in the Our World Irish Aid Awards. This year was no different. We made a sustainable village with wind turbines, water butts, an irrigation system and composting. We went to the Glaslough Wetlands and saw how water was purified and cleaned when it was transported through various reed beds. When the water was finally released into the river it was even cleaner than the river water. To raise money we organised a canteen. In the end we made more than 830 euro. We came in the top 11 in Ireland and went to Dublin Castle to receive our award. We all enjoyed our day out.

Coming up to Christmas we had our Christmas play called Fairy Trials. We only had 4 days to learn our lines but in the end we put on a great show.

Our class we have had lots of success in sports. This year we have won Gaelic football, cross country running, track and field running, quiz, chess, handball and soccer.

On the 26th of May we made our Confirmation in St Macartan’s Cathedral. We learnt songs and prayers in the weeks before it and we also attended special masses each month for it.

We did a safety course in Corcaghan Community Centre. We learnt about the danger of water, electricity, roads, construction sites and fire.

This year for our musical we performed Attack of the Nemgob. We got a great applause and we got a standing ovation three nights in a row. Everyone enjoyed it.

That’s what we’ve being up to in room 7a this year. Thanks for reading!
