Parents' Association - Coiste na dtuistí

Saint Mary's is very fortunate to have an active Parents' Association.

The Saint Mary's Parents' Association:

  • supports the work of the Board of Management, teachers and pupils
  • provides opportunities for parents to become involved in and contribute to their children's education
  • organises guest speakers and school events
  • engages in a consultative process to help draft and approve school policies and plans
  • fundraises to provide additional resources and facilitiies in Saint Mary's for the benefit of the entire school community.

The main yearly fundraising activity in Saint Mary's is the CAKE SALE.

This Bring and Buy Sale is usually held on the Friday preceding St. Patrick's Day.

Funds from the Parents' Association have been used to:

  • provide interactive whiteboards in all classrooms and learning spaces,
  • purchase ICT equipment (including desktop and laptop computers, visualisers, digital cameras and digital video cameras and video editing facilities)
  • purchase board games for all classrooms
  • purchase new playing gear for school teams
  • purchase iPads for use in all classrooms.
  • develop two indoor One Wall handball courts

Future plans include:

  • development of St. Mary's Hill (to include a running trail, hurling wall and all-weather playing field)
  • development of existing grass playing field
  • development of an outdoor classroom
  • increased ICT provision (hardware and software)
